5/31/99  So Long, Bob!



As of June 5, Bob Koenig has left the Cincinnati Marlins Masters to see the rest of the continent until he gets too old or too bored, as he put it.   He will be assisted by his new Ford camper truck, which now bears the signatures of his many Cincinnati friends.   His first stop will be Chicago.   He said he's going to Canada.   He also said he's going to Texas.   (Can he really expect to do this without going through Iowa???)   Bob promises (1) to keep in touch via e-mail, and (2) to bomb through town next year around April 15.   He will tell us whether it's really true that other varieties of chili exist in the larger world.  

In his tenure as coach, Thursday became known as "IM night", at least to the swimmers who remember all four strokes.  

Thanks from all of us for many years of friendship.  

P.S., 11/25/01.  Bob died at home in Cincinnati, but not until he had gotten in 2-1/2 years of touring in his camper.
